The Clawven

Meet SABRINA SPELLMEWN, NANCY MEOWNS, ELPHURBA, MINERVA McCLAWNAGALL, & WILLOW ROSENPURRG!

Along with their mother, Morgan le Stray, these five tiny black witches were rescued from the euthanasia list at Orange County Animal Control, where they had been condemned to die before mastering so much as a rudimentary summoning spell.

It was, in retrospect, a tactical error. History is full of cautionary tales about frightened authorities condemning unusual females they don’t understand. Thankfully, these particular witches declined to cooperate: the execution was stayed, the coven escaped, and all five are now safely in foster care developing their powers.

SABRINA SPELLMEWN: Bright, curious, and preternaturally charming, Sabrina approaches the dark arts with the breezy confidence of someone who considers necromancy an extracurricular activity. She is friendly, social, and entirely too adorable for anyone to ask what, precisely, is happening in the basement.

NANCY MEOWNS: Independent, intense, and absolutely the witch your mother warned you about, Nancy has no interest in being good when being powerful is so much more entertaining. She has invoked the spirit, cornered the market on brooding, and would like everyone to remember that she is flying, not levitating.

ELPHURBA: Clever, dramatic, and chronically misunderstood, Elphurba has already been condemned by people who barely knew her, so she is understandably skeptical of institutional authority. Fortunately, she escaped her scheduled ending and is now busy defying gravity, expectations, and any suggestion that black cats are unlucky.

MINERVA McCLAWNAGALL: Intelligent, imperious, and unnervingly composed, Minerva has the bearing of a professor who has already deducted ten points from your house and is waiting to see whether you are foolish enough to ask why. She does not suffer fools, tardy meals, or educational decrees issued by Dolores Umbridge.

WILLOW ROSENPURRG: Sweet, sensitive, and deceptively innocent, Willow begins every relationship looking like the harmless little nerd of the coven. Give her sufficient encouragement, however, and she may discover untold reserves of power, develop alarmingly black eyes, and attempt to end the world because somebody upset her. We recommend keeping the Churu flowing.

Centuries of folklore have tried to convince us that black cats are omens of misfortune. In this case, the superstition got the causality backward: the only bad luck these five encountered was being born into a world willing to kill them before anyone discovered who they were.

The Clawven will be delivered vaccinated, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, FIV/FeLV tested, and spayed. No candles, pentagrams, or blood sacrifice required — just an application.
